When: Thursday, August 28, 2008 Wear old clothes, a hat, and be prepared to get wet and walk long distances on sphagnum bogs and other challenging areas. 2 PUBLIC MEETINGS BROKENSTRAW CREEK WATERSHED CONSERVATION PLAN & FIELD DAY These meetings are scheduled to inform the public about a plan that is being created to conserve and enhance the natural resources within the Brokenstraw Creek Watershed. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s (WPC) Freshwater Conservation Program through a grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking to understand the views of residents and visitors of the communities within the watershed. When: September 23, 2008 Time: 7:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m. Where: Warren County Conservation District’s Conference Room, 609 Rouse Avenue, Youngsville, PA When: September 24, 2008 Time: 7:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m. Where: Corry Elementary School, 423 Wayne Street, Corry, PA FIELD DAY The Brokenstraw Watershed Council and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy invite you to explore our watershed. Time: 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Where: to be announced NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY, our nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance public lands. www.publiclandsday.org The Forest Service would like assistance with non-native plant removal. When: Saturday, September 27, 2008 Time: starting at 9:00a.m. Where: Boat Launch area of Buckaloons Recreation Area Please register in advance with April Moore at 814-728-6168 or email, so appropriate safety equipment can be provided.
